أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمِسْوَرِ الْمَخْرَمِيُّ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ

محمد بن اسماعیل بن ابراہیم، سلیمان یعنی ابن داؤد ہاشمی، ابراہیم بن سعد، عبداللہ بن جعفر، ابن مسور مخرمی، اسماعیل بن محمد، عامر بن سعد، سعد بن ابی وقاص سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم دائیں اور بائیں جانب سلام پھیرا کرتے تھے۔

It was narrated that ‘Ubaidullah bin Al-Qibti said: “I heard Jabir bin Samurah say: When we prayed behind the Prophet we used to say: As salamu ‘alaykum, as-salamu ‘alaykum (Peace be upon, peace be upon you)” — and Mis’ar (one of the narrators) pointed with his hand to the right and the left. He said: “What is the matter with these people who wave their hands as if they are the tails of wild horses? It is sufficient for one to place his hands on his thighs and to say the Salam to his brother to his right and to his left.” (Sahih)
