Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَنْبَسَةُ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ فَذَکَرَ ذَلِکَ عُمَرُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَغَيَّظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ مُرْهُ فَلْيُرَاجِعْهَا ثُمَّ لِيُمْسِکْهَا حَتَّی تَطْهُرَ ثُمَّ تَحِيضَ فَتَطْهُرَ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَائَ طَلَّقَهَا طَاهِرًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمَسَّ فَذَلِکَ الطَّلَاقُ لِلْعِدَّةِ کَمَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

احمد بن صالح، عنبسہ، یونس، ابن شہاب، سالم بن عبد اللہ، حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے اپنی بیوی کو حالت حیض میں طلاق دی حضرت عمر نے یہ واقعہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے ذکر کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم غصہ میں آ گئے اور فرمایا کہ اس کو کہہ دو کہ وہ اس سے رجوع کر لے پھر اس کو اپنے پاس رکھے یہاں تک کہ وہ حیض سے پاک ہو جائے پھر اس کو دوسرا حیض آئے اور وہ پھر حیض سے پاک ہو اس کے بعد اگر چاہے تو چلاق دیدے پاکی کی حالت میں جماع کیے بغیر اور یہ طلاق کی عدت کے مناسب ہے جس کا اللہ تعالیٰ نے حکم فرمایا ہے۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: AbdurRahman ibn Ayman, the client of Urwah, asked Ibn Umar and AbuzZubayr was was listening: What do you think if a man divorces his wife while she is menstruating? He said: Abdullah ibn Umar divorced his wife while she was menstruating during the time of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him).So Umar asked the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) saying: Abdullah ibn Umar divorced his wife while she was menstruating. Abdullah said: He returned her to me and did not count it (the pronouncement) anything. He said: When she is purified, he may divorce her or keep her with him. Ibn Umar said: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) recited the Qur'anic verse: O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them in the beginning of their waiting period."
