عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يُرَغِّبُ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَأْمُرَ بِعَزِيمَةٍ فَيَقُولُ مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ فَتُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْأَمْرُ عَلَی ذَلِکَ ثُمَّ کَانَ الْأَمْرُ عَلَی ذَلِکَ فِي خِلَافَةِ أَبِي بَکْرٍ وَصَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ

ابوہریرہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم رغبت دلاتے تھے لوگوں کو تراویح پڑھنے کی راتوں کو اور نہ حکم کرتے تھے بطور واجب کے تو فرماتے تھے آپ جس نے ترایح پڑھی رمضان میں اس کو حق سمجھ کر خاص خدا کے لئے بخشے جائیں گے اگلے گناہ اس کے کہا ابن شہاب نے پس وفات ہوئی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اور ایسا ہی حال رہا پھر ایسا ہی حال رہا حضرت ابوبکر کی خلافت میں اور شروع شروع حضرت عمر کی خلافت میں

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abu Salama ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to exhort people to watch the night in prayer in Ramadan but never ordered it definitely. He used to say, "Whoever watches the night in prayer in Ramadan with trust and expectancy, will be forgiven all his previous wrong actions." Ibn Shihab said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, died while that wasstill the custom, and it continued to be the custom in the khalifate of Abu Bakr and at the beginning of the khalifate of Umar ibn al-Khattab."
